Glamour Photography Explained

Glamour photography defines Vogue Shots Photography. It’s a classic portrait style designed to make anyone feel beautiful, like a supermodel for the day. Glamour photography does not discriminate by gender, size, and appearance.

A “Glamour Shot” of me taken in the early 1990’s, when I was about 14 years old.

Do you remember the “Glamour Shots” studios in the mall that were widely popular in the 1980’s and 90’s? When you think of “glamour shots”, cheesy photos with feather boas, big hair, pounds of makeup, and mink stoles come to mind.

I remember when I was 14 years old, I did glamour portraits at the mall. There was a team that did my hair and makeup. I never had so much makeup in my life (and even until this day), and they put me into these outfits geared towards older women. One of my shots was me wearing a sequined top that my mother would normally wear for a cocktail party.

Despite all this though, I received many compliments about how pretty I looked, especially from my sister! Because I was such a tomboy back then (and now), I hardly wore any makeup and always wore loose, baggy clothing. She never complimented me on how I looked until that day.

The main objective of Vogue Shots is to take the concept of the 80’s and 90’s glamour shots and modernize them to today’s fashion and beauty trends. However, unlike Glamour Shots, all sessions will be customized to fit you! All session will come with a pre-shoot consultation from the time you book. I will help you with any questions regarding wardrobe and makeup before and during the shoot.

As I mentioned above, glamour photography does not discriminate by gender. Men can participate as well and can feel like a GQ model for the day!
